Pub evening with Richard

In the evening of Tuesday 8th June I had a nice time visiting certain pubs in the Canning Circus area with Richard, who first prompted the idea of the caves visits series and who has been helping with the project all along. He wanted to find one up Alfreton Road that he had heard might have some caves underneath it, but when we went into the Portland Arms we found that it was not the case there. After staying for a drink we headed for Canning Circus proper, and found that the Falcon Inn was closed – which was a bit unfortunate since I’d included it on the itinerary of our pub crawl in the area later in the month. The Sir John Borlase Warren was open so we had a drink there and went out onto the roof terrace.
