Café Sci: New Green Energy Tech

On Monday 24th May I attended an evening of Nottingham Café Sci, in which Prof. Saiful Islam of the University of Bath presented a talk on new environmentally friendly energy technologies, focussing on fuel cells and lithium crystal batteries. There was a lot of scientific content I couldn’t quite get my head around but I took copious notes and may yet write them up and put them on one of the Transition websites. 🙂 It was certainly an encouraging presentation and Prof. Islam put the particular research he has been involved with in the context of wider ecological situations and needs. He had a good sense of humour and used a PowerPoint Presentation that one audience member said was the first that hadn’t made them fall asleep. We were even given 3D spectacles to view some of the slides with, that showed crystals in different states in different colours.
